“Wonderful Christmastime” is a Christmas song by Paul McCartney, recorded during the sessions for his 1980 solo album “McCartney II”. Released as a single in November 1979, it marked McCartney’s first solo single in over eight years since “Eat at Home” in 1971. Following Wings’ final album “Back to the Egg” earlier that year, the band included “Wonderful Christmastime” in their set during their last tour in November and December 1979, complete with fake snowfall for a festive effect.

Following its release, “Wonderful Christmastime” peaked at number 6 on the UK Singles Chart in January 1980. In the US, it initially charted on Cash Box #83 and Record World #94 but missed the Billboard Hot 100. The song first appeared on Billboard’s Christmas Singles chart in 1984, peaking at number 10, and later reached number 29 on the Hot Adult Contemporarychart in 1996. It finally debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 2018 at number 47, peaking at number 26 in January 2024.

Although Paul McCartney performed all the vocals and instruments on “Wonderful Christmastime,” the Wings members appeared in the music video. Filmed at the Fountain Inn in Ashurst, West Sussex, the video had a relaxed atmosphere, with McCartney recalling they filmed between drinks at the pub. Directed by Russell Mulcahy, the video reflected the director’s later prominence during MTV’s early years.

“Please Come Home for Christmas” és una cançó de Nadal de 1960 escrita i llançada pel cantant i pianista de blues americà Charles Brown, amb coautoria de Gene Redd. El 1978, els Eagles van versionar la cançó sent el seu únic single nadalenc, amb “Funky New Year” com a cara B.
