"New Sensation" és el tercer senzill del seu àlbum "Kick" publicat el 1987. La música va ser composta per Andrew Farriss, amb lletres escrites per Michael Hutchence. La cançó es caracteritza pel sol de saxo de Kirk Pengilly i explora temes d'un estil de vida vibrant i hedonista.

"New Sensation" enganxa els oients amb el seu contagiós arranjament impulsat per la guitarra i el ritme i trompetes vibrants, complementats per un irresistble ganxo de "na na na". Kirk Pengilly, guitarrista i saxofonista d'INXS, va interpretar la part de saxo, i just abans del seu solo,  es pot escoltar un crit de Michael Hutchence dient "trompeta!" que va venir com a conseqüència d’una broma interna entre els membres de la banda. Tim Farriss, l'altre guitarrista del grup, havia expressat interès a tocar la trompeta a la cançó, però es va imposar l’interès de Pengilly per fer un solo de saxo. En la versió del vídeo, el crit de Hutchence va ser eliminat, ja que no tindria sentit perquè el saxofonista és clarament visible.

El vídeo de "New Sensation" mostra una imatge diferent de Michael Hutchence, vestit elegantment i pentinat amb una cua de cavall, un estil emblemàtic de l'època. Rodat a la Casa Municipal de Praga, el vídeo utilitza efectes visuals innovadors aleshores, combinant ones de llum amb un efecte d'estroboscopi semblant al del vídeo de "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" de Wang Chung. Dirigit per Richard Lowenstein, un amic íntim de la banda, el vídeo reflexa la predilecció d'INXS per les estètiques visuals impactants. El 1988, INXS van dominar MTV, guanyant cinc Premis del canal pel seu vídeo de "Need You Tonight/Mediate". Van tancar la cerimònia amb una interpretació de "New Sensation".

Kirk Pengilly, guitarist and horn player for INXS, performed the saxophone part in "New Sensation." Michael Hutchence's call for "trumpet!" just before the sax solo was an inside joke among the band members. Tim Farriss, the group's other guitarist, had expressed interest in playing trumpet on the track, but Pengilly ultimately won out and got to play the sax solo. In the video version of the song, Hutchence's call for trumpet was removed, as it wouldn't make sense since the saxophone is clearly visible.

The "New Sensation" video showcases a different persona of Michael Hutchence, portraying him in a suit and ponytail, a style emblematic of the era. Shot at the Municipal House in Prague, the video utilizes innovative visual effects, combining light waves with a strobing effect reminiscent of the Wang Chung "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" video. Directed by Richard Lowenstein, a close friend of the band, the video reflects INXS's penchant for striking visual aesthetics. In 1988, INXS dominated MTV, winning five Video Music Awards for their "Need You Tonight/Mediate" video and closing the ceremony with a performance of "New Sensation."
