La versió d’"All Through the Night" de Cyndi Lauper per al seu àlbum de 1983 "She's So Unusual" va prendre un camí diferent al de la interpretació original de la cançó folk de Jules Shear. Shear va expressar sorpresa per la transformació de la pista per part de Lauper en el que va descriure com "una cosa techno i bateria elèctrica".

Inicialment, Lauper tenia la intenció de mantenir l'essència acústica de la versió de Shear, però finalment va decidir impregnar-la amb el seu estil distintiu, permetent als oients apreciar la profunditat de la seva visió creativa i el poder transformador de la seva reinterpretació artística. Cyndi Lauper's version of "All Through the Night" for her 1983 album "She's So Unusual" took a departure from the original folk song interpretation by Jules Shear. Shear expressed surprise at Lauper's transformation of the track into what he described as "a drum machine and techno thing".
