"Rapture", que es va incloure al seu cinquè àlbum d'estudi "Autoamerican" (1980), és una barreja de new wave, disco i hip-hop, que mostra la versatilitat i l'estil innovador del grup. "Rapture" va encapçalar la llista Billboard Hot 100 durant dues setmanes. Cal destacar que va ser el primer senzill de rap número u als Estats Units. Internacionalment, el senzill va tenir un bon rendiment, arribant al número tres al Canadà i al número cinc tant a Austràlia com al Regne Unit.

"Rapture" va tenir un paper fonamental en l'evolució de la música de rap i la seva integració a la cultura pop mainstream. Abans del seu llançament, els artistes de rap solien recórrer a cançons existents per a la seva música, sovint samplejant temes de música disco o soul per crear els seus ritmes i breaks. "Rapture" featured on their fifth studio album "Autoamerican" (1980), is a unique blend of new wave, disco, and hip-hop, showcasing the band's versatility and innovative style. Debbie Harry has recounted how numerous rappers, including members of groups like Mobb Deep and Wu-Tang Clan, have acknowledged "Rapture" as the first rap song they ever heard.
