"Union of the Snake" és el novè senzill de Duran Duran, llançat el 1983 com a single principal del seu tercer àlbum, “Seven and the Ragged Tiger”, un mes abans de la publicació de l'àlbum. Aquesta cançó es va convertir en un dels senzills més reeixits del grup, arribant al número 1 a les llistes de Cash Box dels Estats Units i assolint la posició número 3 al Billboard Hot 100 durant tres setmanes consecutives a finals de 1983. Com moltes de les primeres lletres de Simon Le Bon, el significat de la cançó és força ambigu, i fins i tot l'explicació posterior de Le Bon, que afirmava que la cançó tractava sobre el sexe tàntric, no va oferir gaire claredat. Malgrat les lletres críptiques, la cançó va assolir un èxit important, i el seu atractiu transcendia qualsevol necessitat d'una interpretació coherent.

"Union of the Snake" ha estat interpretada per alguns com una reflexió sobre temes com prendre riscos i desafiar les normes socials. At the peak of the "Mad Max" craze, Duran Duran leaned into the post-apocalyptic trend with the music video for this track.
