“Love Is All Around” és una cançó originalment escrita i gravada per la banda de rock anglesa The Troggs, llançada l’octubre de 1967. Només ha estat superat per “I Believe” de Frankie Laine (18 setmanes) i “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” de Bryan Adams (16 setmanes). Originally written and recorded by English rock band The Troggs, “Love Is All Around” was released in October 1967. Written by lead singer Reg Presley, the song was inspired by a Salvation Army band he saw on TV. Markedly softer and more romantic than the band’s earlier hit “Wild Thing,” this folk-style ballad became a transatlantic top-ten hit. Its iconic opening line—“I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes”—was drawn from Presley’s feelings of love for his wife and daughter as he returned home from America.

In 1994, Scottish band Wet Wet Wet covered the song for the film “Four Weddings and a Funeral”, after being approached by screenwriter Richard Curtis. They chose “Love Is All Around” from a list that also included “I Will Survive” and “Can’t Smile Without You.” Released on May 9, 1994, their version added a new introduction and modern pop production.

The single entered the UK Singles Chart at No. 4 and rose to No. 1 by May 29. It remained at the top for 15 consecutive weeks, making it one of the longest-running No. 1s in UK chart history—only surpassed by Frankie Laine’s “I Believe” (18 weeks) and Bryan Adams’ “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” (16 weeks). Due to listener fatigue, some radio stations eventually banned it, and the band themselves requested its deletion from sale in an effort to end its run. The attempt to match Adams’ record failed when Whigfield’s “Saturday Night” debuted at No. 1.

While Wet Wet Wet’s version was a massive hit in the UK and several other countries, it peaked at only No. 41 in the US. Nonetheless, it remains one of the best-selling and most recognizable UK singles of the 1990s.
